Whisky review : Connoisseurs Choice Dalmore 1996 (15 years old) bottled @ 43%
-Great bottling
-reasonable pricing
Colour: heavy gold, lighter than a A maple syrup. Probably Sherry influenced here. medium bodied.
Nose: 1st nosing, Apples, very fruity, floral. Pepper, touches of vinegar notes, orangy spirity as well. Light nosing, yet interesting.
Mouth: Delicate creamy toffee arrival, cherry syrup, chili, more spices, fruits, touches of mint, but a cool one, sap. With water, it looses its creaminess....touches of 7up lemon, soft, lingering light sweetness, light floral notes, cedar wood.
Finish: light orange, wood, sweet notes, light apples jam
B+++ (almost A-). So close here....If the finish were to be a little bit better, it would enter the A Zone. Still a great Highland whisky here. The thick caramel reminds me of the Bun 12. So thick....
B+ for the presentation. Sober yet has all the info required. Don't like the carton tough.
A- for the price. for 67$(SAQ), it's good. Good taste (w/o water) and yet better than it's overpriced relative, aka the ''original'' Dalmore 12 (71,25$). In this case, the CC made a better bottling than the original. Sad Dalmore...loose the caramel guys. In my case, I would recommend the purchase for anyone enjoying the Highland whiskies.
